All jewellery on this site is designed and individually handmade by Kerry Hughes in Ceredigion.
I’ve been making jewellery for over ten years and I absolutely love it. I’m also a little bit obsessed with beachcombing and feel incredibly lucky to live near to the beach in Ceredigion, where I can sea glass hunt and comb the beaches most days.
One aspect of beach combing that’s not so pleasant is the amount of rubbish that accumulates on the beaches. The plastic washed up on our shores is so hazardous to wildlife. So beach cleaning is a huge part of the beach combing experience!
10% of sales of the Sea & Sand collection is donated to the Marine Conservation Society to promote their amazing work protecting our coastal environment and its wildlife, being able to support them through sales of the jewellery is amazing.
I’m married to a conservationist and Mum to three awesome boys, awareness of the environment and the affect we humans have on it, is part of our daily life. I feel incredibly strongly about the conservation of biodiversity and caring for our planet, it needs to be looked after for future generations.
I’ve also spent time studying the human story in the fashion industry, we all need to be aware of how we treat our fellow humans in the making of our clothes and jewellery.
For these reasons I really want Beachcomber Jewellery to be somewhere you can go to find something that’s both beautiful and also created as ethically and sustainably as possible.
I use recycled silver and gold, these metals have a guarantee of authenticity. Their quality is the same as mined sterling silver or gold and can be hallmarked as such, but does not have the same environmental and social impact. All of the gemstones used are ethically sourced.
The designs are inspired by the coastal environment, by its beautiful ever changing textures and colours.
It’s an absolute joy to make wedding rings and really special to be able to offer an ethical alternative.
Each piece of jewellery is individually handmade by me in my little shed using traditional hand tools and avoiding harmful chemicals.
Beachcomber jewellery is not about perfection just creating beautiful wearable pieces without impacting on the environment.

Thank you so so much for our beautiful rings! We are absolutely thrilled with them and couldn’t have wished for anything better. Danny has been moaning about having to wear a ring (he never wears any jewellery) but he couldn’t take it off after we got it in the post, he loved it so much :). Mine is absolutely amazing! I am so happy I went for the frosted ring, it fits perfectly with my engagement ring. Thanks again for making such beautiful rings that we can treasure forever. – Amy

‘The rings arrived, they are absolutely perfect in every way, thank you so much for creating these for our elopement x’ Sally and Nic
I couldn’t be happier with my wedding ring, both for the fine craftsmanship and the ethics that went into making the ring. It feels so good to support an artisan rather than a big chain store! Kerry was extremely thoughtful and patient with me throughout the process of making the ring, especially because I requested several adjustments including re-sizing and stamping. Her personalised attention put me at ease, and now I have a ring that I will happily wear for the rest of my life.’ Jonathan
